AIR MAIL 100 CENTENNIAL FLIGHTS PROJECT: COMMEMORATIVE POSTCARDS
Below are 16 designs that are offered as examples of commemorative postcards recognizing the centennial of the start of transcontinental airmail service. Each community would receive 350 cards that would be addressed to whomever they wished. They would be stamped BUT NOT MAILED. They would be collected, bundled together and added to those being carried from plane-to-plane. Once the last plane arrives in San Francisco with all the postcards, the mailbag will be turned over to the postmaster there for official cancellation and put into the US postal system and sent to the designated recipients. A full-sized, 300 dpi PDF version of each can be viewed by clicking on the small JPEG images. Suggestions for improvements or alternative designs are welcome.
